Anseong-si Promotes Crop Disaster Insurance Support for Farms Affected by Heavy Snowfall

Funding from Hometown Love Donations...
Supporting All or Part of the 20% Self-Pay Amount

Anseong City in Gyeonggi Province is planning to support local farmers in subscribing to crop disaster insurance using hometown love donation funds.

On the 12th, Anseong City announced that it is reviewing a plan to support a portion of the farmers' self-pay amount when subscribing to crop disaster insurance to prevent disaster damage to local farmers caused by heavy snowfall last November.

The funding for the support will be sourced from donations received through designated donations under the Hometown Love Donation System. The city plans to support 20% of the self-pay amount (an average of 318,200 KRW) for 2,637 households affected by the heavy snowfall. The city estimated that supporting the full self-pay amount would cost 839 million KRW, while supporting half of the self-pay amount would require 419 million KRW.

Previously, since December last year, the city has been collecting disaster prevention donations through designated donations via Hometown Love e-um and the private platform Wigi-B. So far, the city has raised about 60 million KRW in designated donations related to heavy snowfall and about 600 million KRW in general donations. The specific scope of support will be decided at the Hometown Love Donation Deliberation Committee meeting scheduled for this month.

Kim Bora, mayor of Anseong City, said, "We plan to support part of the cost of crop disaster insurance to provide practical income security and management stability," and urged, "We hope many citizens subscribe to crop disaster insurance to receive benefits."

Meanwhile, under the Hometown Love Donation system, individuals can donate to local governments other than their place of residence up to a limit of 20 million KRW per person. Donations up to 100,000 KRW are fully tax-deductible, and amounts exceeding that receive a 16.5% tax credit. Gifts are also provided within 30% of the donation amount as a token of appreciation.
