Until the 7th of Next Month...
Tangible and Intangible Assets, Monuments, and Folk Materials
Boseong County, Jeollanam-do announced on the 12th that it will be accepting applications from individuals and organizations until the 7th of next month to discover and designate local cultural heritage assets.
The targets for designation as "local cultural heritage" include tangible and intangible assets, monuments, and folk materials that are not registered as national or provincial cultural properties under the 'National Heritage Basic Act' or the 'Jeollanam-do Cultural Heritage Protection Ordinance.'
The county has been continuously striving to discover and protect cultural heritage, having designated 12 items in 2017 and 10 items in 2024 as local cultural heritage.
In particular, among the assets registered as local cultural heritage, one is selected each year to be promoted to provincial cultural heritage status, and an application is submitted to enhance the value of the cultural heritage.
Individuals or organizations wishing to register their assets as local cultural heritage must obtain and fill out the application form at the relevant eup or myeon administrative welfare center, submit it, and participate in an expert investigation if required.
The evaluation process involves a first stage of on-site visits by experts, owner interviews, and data collection, followed by a second stage review by the Boseong County Local Cultural Heritage Protection Committee, and final designation through deliberation.
The county plans to issue and announce certificates for assets designated as local cultural heritage and will conduct regular inspections with the owners every year as part of a systematic preservation and management effort.
Applicant Mr. Kim said, "I hope that many assets in Boseong County will be designated as local cultural heritage and receive protection and management," adding, "I hope that in the future, our cultural heritage will be recognized for its value not only as national heritage but also worldwide."
A county official stated, "If we cherish and preserve the small values of today, they will become Boseong's great cultural assets in 50 or 100 years," adding, "We will do our best to discover and protect the region's cultural heritage."
