Independent research firm ValueFinder (CEO Lee Chungheon) announced on the 12th that it will host the industry's first Corporate Day. ValueFinder is an independent research company that directly visits small-cap companies with a market capitalization of less than 500 billion KRW and provides corporate analysis reports.
Within the industry, it is considered unusual for an independent research company to host a Corporate Day. Corporate Day usually refers to an IR event held by securities firms' research centers as part of a seminar, inviting companies and institutional investors. It is seen as a positive aspect that independent research has never hosted a Corporate Day before and that individual investors can also participate in ValueFinder's Corporate Day.
Since IR activities of listed companies have generally been limited to institutional investors, this Corporate Day is meaningful as it provides an opportunity for individual investors to experience IR and for shareholders to directly learn about the company's status.
CEO Lee Chungheon stated, “The number of small-cap company reports published by securities firms' research centers is steadily decreasing, and as of 2023, 83% of companies with a market capitalization under 100 billion KRW had not released a single report.”
He also said, “Recently, financial authorities have raised the market capitalization and sales criteria, strengthening delisting requirements for small-cap companies on KOSPI/KOSDAQ. These companies find it difficult even to have meetings with securities analysts, and publishing reports is even more challenging. Therefore, we decided to host Corporate Days for these companies.”
According to ValueFinder, on the 17th of this month, they plan to hold a Corporate Day inviting three companies: Adbiotech, Itoxy, and Gangstem Biotech, with each company's CEO or CFO directly conducting IR presentations.
He added, “If conditions permit, we want to hold regular monthly Corporate Days to create an event beneficial to listed companies, institutional investors, and individual investors alike,” and “We ask for continued interest from many listed companies in our Corporate Days.”
