Retired Public Officials in Gwangju to Oversee Student Safety at Neulbom School

Gwangju Education Office Assigns Around 100 Retired Officials
to Oversee Attendance and Supervise Student Arrival and Dismissal

Retired public officials in the Gwangju area will be responsible for the safety management of Neulbom School students starting this new semester.

According to the Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Education on the 12th, beginning in March, around 100 retired public officials will be assigned to Neulbom Schools at elementary schools to strengthen student safety management.

The retired public officials will supervise students during arrival and dismissal, guide students between classrooms, manage attendance, provide guidance on daily life, and oversee safety management.

Additionally, they will cooperate with nearby police substations and related agencies to establish a student safety management system, and provide safety education at least once a month and simulation training on case response at least once per semester for students participating in Neulbom School.

Existing services such as the 'Ansim Allimi' service, safety bells in Neulbom classrooms, CCTV, and fire barriers will be strengthened by distributing the safety management system budget to schools early, thereby enhancing Neulbom School's safety measures.

Previously, the city office of education distributed the 'Neulbom School Operation Guide' to each school and has been checking the preparation status for Neulbom School since last January.

Furthermore, each school has been instructed to confirm student attendance before starting the Neulbom program, notify parents of tardiness or absences via SMS, app, or phone call, and require parents or guardians to be designated in advance for student pick-up.

Superintendent Lee Jungseon said, "We will do our best to strengthen safety management at Neulbom School so that students and parents can use the program with peace of mind."
