President Yoon Suk-yeol stated regarding the Daejeon elementary school student murder case, "I believe the government will do its best to support the victim's family and prepare measures to prevent recurrence."
On the 12th, President Yoon conveyed through lawyer Yoon Gap-geun, "It is very sad and regrettable that such a horrific crime occurred at a school where children should be able to play safely."
He continued, "I pray for the repose of the young student who tragically lost their life and offer my condolences to the victim's family."
The president's office added, "Through the lawyer who met with the president, he received the devastating news and expressed his sorrow."
Earlier, on the afternoon of the 10th, an incident occurred at an elementary school in Daejeon where a teacher in their 40s stabbed Kim Ha-neul with a weapon, killing her, and then attempted self-harm.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education Lee Ju-ho and the 17 metropolitan and provincial superintendents of education will meet that day to discuss cooperation and response measures between the Ministry of Education and local education offices.
