According to industry sources, Meta is reportedly in talks to acquire Puriosa AI. Foreign sources have stated that the acquisition discussions could be concluded as early as this month.

Puriosa AI is a fabless (semiconductor design specialized company) startup developing AI inference computation specialized semiconductors for data center servers. It was founded in 2017 by CEO Baek Jun-ho, a former engineer at Samsung Electronics and the American semiconductor company AMD.

Puriosa AI introduced its first AI semiconductor, "Warboy," in 2021, followed by the unveiling of the next-generation AI semiconductor "Renegade" (RNGD) in August last year. Puriosa AI is currently attracting interest from several companies, with Meta known to be one of them.

Meta's interest in this startup is interpreted as an effort to develop its own AI chips. Currently, Meta is purchasing AI chips from NVIDIA at a huge cost.

Meanwhile, Now IB is one of the major investment portfolio companies that has invested in Puriosa AI.
