The eight shipbuilding companies gathered that day were Hyundai Heavy Industries, Hyundai Mipo Dockyard, Hanwha Ocean, Samsung Heavy Industries, K Shipbuilding, HJ Heavy Industries, Daesun Shipbuilding, and Gangnam.

This event was organized to seriously recognize the situation where numerous serious accidents occurred, including the deaths of 20 workers in the shipbuilding industry in 2024 alone, to seek practical measures to reduce these incidents, and to promote the spread of a safety culture.

On that day, the agency shared the 2025 SS-90 (Safety Shipyard-90days, an emergency plan to prevent fatal accidents in the shipbuilding industry) based on safety, health, environment, and accident analysis in the shipbuilding industry. The shipyards in Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam presented internal safety management measures and activity plans to reduce fatal accidents in the shipbuilding industry and discussed accident prevention measures.

Jung Jong-deuk, head of the Busan Regional Headquarters of the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency, said, “We hope this will be an opportunity to break the chain of fatal accidents in the shipbuilding industry and create safe shipyards by forming a proactive sense of crisis consensus, advancing toward a world-class safe K-shipbuilding industry.” He added, “The agency will also spare no effort in its role and support to prevent serious accidents.”
