Gyeonggi-do Sends Notice Containing Violation Cases to 293 Safety Inspection Agencies

Gyeonggi Province has sent guidance letters containing violation cases to 293 registered safety inspection specialized agencies within the province.

Safety inspection specialized agencies are institutions that conduct safety inspections, diagnoses, and performance evaluations of facilities such as buildings and bridges in accordance with the "Special Act on the Safety and Maintenance of Facilities," and their registration and management are handled by the city and provincial governors.

In this guidance letter, Gyeonggi Province included major violation cases and disposition standards under the "Special Act on the Safety and Maintenance of Facilities," such as ▲failure to notify subcontracting ▲unqualified personnel performing services ▲non-compliance with registration standards.

Gyeonggi Province conducts on-site inspections of safety inspection specialized agencies every year. Last year, six companies that had unqualified personnel performing services were suspended from business. A total fine of 100 million KRW was imposed on 40 companies where failures to notify subcontracting and other violations were detected.

Lee Jong-don, Director of the Safety Management Office of Gyeonggi Province, emphasized, "Poor safety inspections and inadequate facility management are factors that threaten the safety of residents. We will focus on guiding and preventing risk factors in advance rather than detecting them afterward, and do our best to create a safe facility usage environment."

Gyeonggi Province plans to send guidance letters monthly in the future to ensure that registered safety inspection specialized agencies do not receive penalties due to minor mistakes. Additionally, within this year, a workshop for safety inspection specialized agencies will be held to provide guidance on major violation cases, how to prepare safety inspection reports, and other preventive measures against poor safety inspections.
