Gyeonggi-do Activates Emergency Response Level 1 from 10 PM on the 11th in Preparation for Heavy Snow

Gyeonggi Province will activate Emergency Response Level 1 of the Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters starting at 10 PM on the 11th, in anticipation of snow and rain expected across the entire province from early morning to afternoon on the 12th.

The Korea Meteorological Administration previously announced that a heavy snow warning will be issued early on the 12th, forecasting snowfall of up to 10cm or more, mainly in the eastern areas of Gyeonggi Province.

Accordingly, Gyeonggi Province will proactively operate the Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters from 10 PM on the 11th. At Emergency Response Level 1, the Natural Disaster Countermeasures Team Leader will serve as the Situation Management Chief, with a total of 15 personnel working across road, traffic, and agriculture sectors.

Gyeonggi-do Activates Emergency Response Level 1 from 10 PM on the 11th in Preparation for Heavy Snow Gyeonggi Provincial Government

Kim Seong-jung, the First Deputy Governor of Gyeonggi Province, requested through an official document on the day to ▲ monitor weather conditions and proactively operate the Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters ▲ conduct preemptive snow removal to prepare for traffic congestion and pedestrian safety accidents during commuting hours ▲ continuously inspect and strengthen road patrols by pre-applying and reapplying de-icing agents on freezing-vulnerable sections where black ice is expected ▲ thoroughly perform follow-up snow removal on side roads and pedestrian areas ▲ actively promote public guidelines for heavy snow using available media such as disaster text messages and electronic signboards.

Since snowfall starting at dawn is expected to continue until morning, causing icy roads during commuting hours, the province plans to activate a snow removal cooperation system among related agencies to share weather conditions and snow removal status on major arterial roads and road connection (boundary) sections.

Additionally, thorough follow-up snow removal will be conducted at public transportation stops, alleyways, and side roads, and nearby snow removal equipment will be maintained to minimize inconvenience to residents.
