The Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education will hold the '1st Mathematics, Science, and Convergence Education (K-STEM) Policy Forum' on the 13th.
On the 12th, the Office announced that it will host a policy forum under the theme "STEM Opening the Future in the AI Era, STEM for Everyone."
STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. In countries such as the United States and the United Kingdom, STEM education is being strengthened by focusing on project-based learning that solves real-world problems to cultivate talent in STEM fields.
K-STEM is a STEM education policy systematically promoted for the first time in Seoul, tailored to the era of advancing AI and digital technologies. According to the Office, it aims to support students in developing creative and collaborative future competencies based on a foundation of humanities knowledge.
At this forum, experts will give lectures on various topics including "Inclusivity and Future Strategies of STEM Education in the AI Era," "Science Teaching Methods to Foster Inquiry Skills," "Mathematics Teaching Methods to Develop Thinking Skills," and "Enhancing the Enjoyment of Mathematics and Confidence."
Jung Geun-sik, Superintendent of the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education, said, "We will continue to strive to ensure that education policies enabling students to learn mathematics and science from basic to advanced levels together, collaborate with each other, and develop critical thinking and creativity are well established in the field."
