Building Quantum and Financial Research Infrastructure
and Training Advanced Talent
Through Local Government-University Cooperation
National Pukyong University (President Bae Sang-hoon) held a performance-sharing forum for the "Quantum-Classical Hybrid System Research Ecosystem Creation and Advanced Human Resource Development Project for Solving Financial Problems."
The Quantum-Classical Hybrid Ecosystem Creation Project Group, involving the Department of Physics (Professors Park Hee-cheol, Lee Kyu-seop, and Lee Seung-hoon) and the Department of Computer and Artificial Intelligence Engineering (Professors Kim Tae-guk and Han Young-seon) at National Pukyong University, recently held this forum at the Nuri Hall as part of Busan City's local government-university cooperation-based Regional Innovation System (RIS) project.
Through the RIS project, National Pukyong University is carrying out research infrastructure development and advanced human resource training by having the Department of Physics promote the development of quantum materials and devices and the establishment of an advanced measurement technology platform, while the Department of Computer and Artificial Intelligence Engineering is advancing the establishment of a quantum software development platform specialized for financial problems.
Quantum science and technology is a technology expected to have a significant impact on innovations in various fields such as artificial intelligence and finance by utilizing qubits, which have superposition properties, instead of bits, the basic unit of conventional computers, thereby greatly increasing computational processing speed.
At this forum, attended by professors, researchers, and students of National Pukyong University, the project shared and discussed achievements in △ creating a quantum-classical hybrid system research ecosystem △ development of quantum materials and devices and measurement technology △ application of quantum technology to solve financial problems △ industry-academia-research cooperation in quantum technology.
Project leader Park Hee-cheol stated, "Through this forum, we expect to lay the foundation for the fusion of quantum science and technology and the financial industry, which are future growth industries of Busan."
