Chunhyang Festival to Be Held from April 30 to May 6
Applications Open for the 95th Global Chunhyang Selection Contest
Namwon City in North Jeolla Province announced on the 11th that it will be accepting applications for participants in the Global Chunhyang Selection Contest for the 95th Chunhyang Festival until the 31st of next month.
Applicants must be born between January 1, 1997, and December 31, 2008, with no regional restrictions.
Those interested can download the application form from the Jeonju MBC website, the city website, or the Chunhyang Festival website, fill it out, and submit it by the 31st of next month. The results of the document screening will be announced on April 7.
The finalists will be determined over two days through the first and second preliminary rounds on April 12 and 13. After a 10-day training camp starting April 20, the final winners will be selected on April 30 at the special stage on Yocheon-ro in Namwon.
Awards include Jin, Sun, Mi, Jeong, Suk, Hyun, special prizes, and the Friendship Award. Winners will serve as ambassadors to promote Korea's traditional beauty to the world.
A city official stated, "We hope for much interest and participation in the 95th Chunhyang Festival, which is rich in history and tradition," and added, "Starting this year, the Global Chunhyang Selection Contest will ease age requirements and expand participation for international students, making it an even more exciting and well-prepared event."
The Chunhyang Festival, held for seven days from April 30 to May 6, will offer a variety of attractions and activities for visitors to Namwon, including performance programs themed around music, F&B operations in collaboration with The Born Korea, and the creation of a new Canola Flower Group, as well as high-quality food experiences.
