Securing 18.4 Billion KRW by Reducing Operating Expenses
Providing 300,000 KRW per Resident in Goheung County
Goheung County, South Jeolla Province (Governor Gong Youngmin) announced on the 11th that it has prepared and submitted to the county council the first supplementary budget bill for 2025, amounting to 900.7 billion KRW, which is an increase of 1.3 billion KRW compared to the original budget.
This emergency supplementary budget was prepared to support the recovery of the local economy and the livelihoods of residents, which have been frozen due to the "three highs" phenomenon?high inflation, high interest rates, and high exchange rates. Through intensive expenditure restructuring, the county aims to provide 300,000 KRW in livelihood recovery support funds per resident, with the intention of overcoming difficulties together with the residents.
The funds for this supplementary budget were secured not from general resources such as local taxes or grants, but by boldly adjusting expenditures such as employee welfare budgets, operating expenses, and new project budgets, as well as reducing labor costs by limiting the hiring of short-term temporary workers, thus raising 18.4 billion KRW.
Governor Gong Youngmin said, "I hope the livelihood recovery support fund will provide real help for the stability of residents' lives," and added, "Once the budget bill is finalized, all public officials will do their utmost to quickly implement the project and help spark consumer sentiment that has frozen over."
