Public Institutions in Five Districts and Ulsan City Also Join the Effort
Ulsan City announced that it has blocked access to the generative artificial intelligence (AI) DeepSeek, which has been controversial due to excessive collection of personal information.
This follows recent measures taken by the National Intelligence Service and the Ministry of the Interior and Safety to block access to DeepSeek, citing concerns over safety.
Accordingly, starting from the 6th, Ulsan City, along with Jung-gu and Buk-gu districts, has completely blocked access to DeepSeek on work PCs used by employees in the remaining districts and public institutions of Ulsan City.
Regarding other generative AI services, including ChatGPT, the city plans to continuously monitor them after reviewing safety and related issues with relevant agencies.
An official from Ulsan City stated, “We will maintain the temporary access block on DeepSeek until its safety is confirmed,” adding, “We will continue to take proactive measures to prevent any damage should similar security issues arise in the future.”
