Discussion on Fostering the Aviation Maintenance Industry
and Cooperation Measures Among Related Organizations
Incheon City will hold a forum on the 13th at City Hall under the theme of 'Establishing a Cooperative System Among Related Organizations for Aviation Safety.'
About 50 participants, including experts in the field of aviation safety, related organizations, and representatives from relevant groups, are expected to attend. The forum is organized as a venue to discuss practical cooperation measures to prevent aviation safety accidents.
In particular, following the recent accident involving a Jeju Air passenger plane at Muan International Airport, awareness of aviation safety has heightened. The forum will conduct in-depth discussions on measures to prevent aviation accidents through the revitalization of the Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) industry and strengthening technical education, as well as cooperation plans among the government, Incheon City, and airport operators.
Yoo Chang-kyung, President of the Korean Society for Aeronautical and Space Sciences, will emphasize the importance of safety management across the aviation industry and the establishment of a cooperative system among related organizations under the theme of 'The Role and Cooperation Measures of Related Organizations and Civil Society for Aviation Safety and Aviation Industry Development.'
Following this, Kim Song-won, Head of the Incheon City Innovation Team, will serve as the moderator. Panelists including Kim Jae-sik, member of the Incheon City Innovation Team; Kim Young-shin, Director of the Aviation Division of Incheon City; Shin Jae-ho, Director of Safety Management at Incheon International Airport Corporation; Lee Hee-jung, Deputy Director of the Aerospace Industry-Academia Convergence Institute; and Hwang Kyung-chul, Professor at the Korea Aviation Safety Education Center of Korea Aerospace University, will discuss cooperation measures to strengthen aviation safety from various perspectives.
The forum will focus on the necessity of training maintenance personnel and improving technical levels centered on Incheon International Airport. In particular, it will emphasize the need for institutional cooperation measures such as expanding government-level nonprofit specialized education and training institutions and establishing a shared economy-type maintenance facility, equipment, and parts system for the continuous development of the aviation maintenance industry.
Along with this, concrete measures to enhance the competitiveness of the aviation industry and disaster safety management will be proposed through the participation and cooperation of airport operation stakeholders, including the government, local governments, airport operators, and private companies.
An official from Incheon City stated, "We will prepare practical and feasible cooperation measures to strengthen aviation safety by reflecting the various opinions presented at the forum. In particular, we will continuously strive for technological innovation and safety enhancement in the aviation maintenance industry sector and work closely with each organization to seek the best solutions for preventing aviation accidents."
