The blueprint for the Chungnam International Tennis Center, which will be used as a venue for the 2027 Summer World University Games and will meet international standards, has been revealed.
The Chungnam Provincial Government announced on the 11th that, to ensure thorough preparation for the 2027 Summer World University Games, it has decided to build a state-of-the-art tennis stadium that meets international standards. Through a design-build tender, the Gyeryong Consortium was finally selected as the qualified contractor.
The Chungnam International Tennis Center, which will be the only stadium in the Chungcheong region to meet international standards, will be constructed on a 50,555 square meter site within the university land of Naepo New City. The total project cost will be 81.7 billion KRW, with 20.6 billion KRW from the national government and 61.1 billion KRW from the province.
The main facilities will include a center court with 3,000 seats for the finals, one show court with 1,000 seats, four indoor courts with a total of 5,000 seats, eight match courts, and two practice courts, making a total of 16 tennis courts.
Additionally, the center will be equipped with infrastructure for efficient management of various matches, amenities for athletes, and a range of convenient facilities for users and spectators.
The province plans to begin detailed design with the Gyeryong Consortium, which was selected as the qualified contractor, within this month. The main construction is scheduled to begin in the second half of this year, aiming for completion before the preparation period for the 2027 Summer World University Games by starting with priority construction work.
A provincial official stated, "As the Chungnam International Tennis Center will be the only international standard tennis facility in the Chungcheong region, we will do our utmost to ensure the successful hosting of the Summer World University Games."
