Hit the Tea Co., Ltd.'s organic matcha brand SUPER MATCHA has opened its first flagship store in Malaysia, launching its global market expansion.
In July last year, SUPER MATCHA signed a master license agreement with One Creators, a Malaysian food and beverage specialist company. Accordingly, on February 7, it officially opened its first overseas store at ‘The Exchange TRX,’ a complex shopping mall in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
SUPER MATCHA uses only Korean organic matcha and differentiates itself in the global market by focusing on premium ceremonial-grade matcha. Additionally, it has obtained Halal and Kosher certifications to enhance product credibility and complete preparations for global market entry. The Malaysian store will offer not only popular menus and MD products from Korea but also special menus reflecting local consumer preferences. In particular, the store, designed with the ‘Matcha Lab’ concept, will allow customers to directly experience various SUPER MATCHA products.
Malaysia is a key consumer market in Southeast Asia, with active entry of global brands due to high purchasing power and growth in the tourism industry. Especially, ‘The Exchange TRX’ is recognized as a premium commercial area, hosting several global brands such as Apple Store, Shake Shack, and Gentle Monster for the first time in Malaysia.
Starting with the opening of the Malaysian store, SUPER MATCHA plans to expand into at least three additional countries in North America, Europe, and Asia by 2025. It is currently negotiating master license agreements with major food and beverage companies in North America and Europe, and is in the final negotiation stage for entry into the Indonesian market within the first half of the year. Furthermore, it plans to accelerate global expansion by opening additional stores in Malaysia within the year.
A SUPER MATCHA representative said, “We are pleased to meet Malaysian consumers by opening our first global store,” adding, “We will establish ourselves as a brand that delivers a premium matcha experience to global consumers by promoting a healthy lifestyle and the value of Korean organic matcha worldwide.”
