YouTube Kim Eo-jun News Factory Interview
"If diversity dies within the party, it is not the Democratic Party"
"People Power Party destroying the constitution... If they regain power, it will be chaos"
Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, predicted that "the result will likely come out in March" regarding the second trial verdict on the violation of the Public Official Election Act.
On the 11th, Lee appeared on a YouTube broadcast operated by Kim Eo-jun and responded this way when asked about the outlook for the second trial verdict on the violation of the Public Official Election Act.
He said, "In fact, the process is moving very quickly, and I have no complaints about that," adding, "It is actually good that it is being resolved quickly."
When asked whether the Supreme Court ruling could come out within two months, he replied, "It will be impossible due to the procedures of the Criminal Procedure Act."

However, he claimed, "I have been involved in trials for decades, and cases where conclusions go against common public sense are rare," adding, "The law states that issues related to memory cannot be punished. Punishment is for actions related to external facts, so how could memory be punished?"
When asked about his intention to run for president, he drew a line by saying, "Talking about that now would lead to unnecessary controversy," and added, "That is something to discuss when the time comes, and right now overcoming the internal crisis is the priority."
Regarding voices of criticism from 'non-mainstream' figures within the party and hints at his presidential candidacy, he responded, "The meaning of the word 'party' is diversity among various people, which is its life and essence," and said, "Of course, people can speak and have complaints, but if diversity dies, it is not the Democratic Party."
However, he emphasized, "Winning or losing the presidential election is the most important," and added, "Upholding the constitution has traditionally been a core value of conservatism, but now the People Power Party is heading down a path of destroying the constitution in the name of conservatism. If such a group, which is not true conservatism, regains power, that would be chaos."
