Adore, a subsidiary of HYBE, has issued an official statement regarding the use of the group name NewJeans. On the 10th, Adore stated, "There is confusion as the NewJeans members have announced plans to promote under a group name without consulting Adore," and reiterated, "The exclusive contracts between the NewJeans members and Adore are legally valid, and claims that they have been terminated are unilateral assertions." They added, "Adore has filed a lawsuit to confirm the validity of the exclusive contracts along with a provisional injunction recognizing Adore’s status as the management company under the exclusive contracts, and we are awaiting the court’s decision." They also requested, "When writing articles, please use the official team name 'NewJeans' based on the valid contract." The exclusive contracts between Adore and NewJeans are set to expire on July 31, 2029.

Regarding the reason for adopting the new team name, the members explained, "We cannot use the previous name temporarily, but we have not completely given it up," adding, "(NewJeans) is still very special to us, and we believe fans also hold it very dearly." Meanwhile, the hearing date for the provisional injunction filed by Adore against the members to preserve the management company status and prohibit advertising contract signings is scheduled for March 7, and the first trial date for the lawsuit to confirm the validity of the exclusive contracts will be held on April 3.
