Demi Moore: "Bruce Will Always Be Family"
Bruce Willis Diagnosed with Dementia in 2023
Famous Hollywood actress Demi Moore (63) confessed that she meets with her ex-husband Bruce Willis, who is suffering from dementia, every week.
In a recent interview with the U.S. entertainment media outlet Variety, Moore stated, "Willis will always be family."
Moore married action star Willis in 1987, but they divorced in 2000 after 13 years of marriage. The couple had three daughters: Rumer, Tallulah, and Scout. Willis later married his current wife, Emma Heming, in 2009, while Moore married actor Ashton Kutcher in 2005 and divorced in 2013.
Although nearly 25 years have passed since Moore and Willis ended their marriage, Moore is still said to consider Willis family. Variety explained, "The conversation with Moore could not be complete without mentioning her famous 'blended family.' This includes Willis, who has been diagnosed with dementia. Decades after their marriage ended, Willis has remained a constant presence in Moore’s life."
In the interview, Moore emphasized, "We will always be family, just in a different form." She visits Willis’s home every week and does her best to make him feel supported by his children and wife. Moore added, "For me, meeting him was natural. Showing up is something you do for the people you love."
She continued, "I hope showing that a family can work in a different way than usual encourages others. Life goes on after divorce. There are ways to co-parent with love," she reiterated.
Meanwhile, Willis stopped his acting career after being diagnosed with aphasia in March 2022. A year later, he was diagnosed with dementia. In February of that year, Willis’s family released a statement on the website of the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration (AFTD), saying, "We have learned that he is suffering from frontotemporal dementia. It is painful, but we are relieved to have a clear diagnosis."
Moore is experiencing a second peak in her career, starring in the film Substance, which was released domestically in December last year. She also won the Best Actress award for Substance at the 82nd Golden Globe Awards.
