Jangheung County Promotes Consistency of Official Land and Building Registers

"Enabling Efficient Property Management for Owners"

Jangheung County in Jeollanam-do (Governor Kim Sung) announced on the 10th that it will promote the unification of official records by matching the building register with land whose land category has not been changed after building use approval over the past 10 years.

The target for this unification of official records includes land that received building use approval after completion as farmland or forest conversion between 2015 and 2024, but for which the land category was not changed, resulting in a discrepancy between the land category in official records and the actual land use.

This discrepancy between the official land category and the actual land use causes significant inconvenience for citizens, affecting land ownership transfers, applications for agricultural direct payments, property tax assessments, individual official land prices, and the agricultural management register.

Accordingly, Jangheung County plans to conduct on-site inspections for 3,739 parcels of land based on building permit and use approval records, and will guide landowners to apply for land category changes. Furthermore, after changing the land category in the land register, the county will request registration at the competent registry office to simplify administrative procedures and ensure consistency with the land registration ledger.

An official from the county stated, "We expect that the unification of the land register and building register will enable more efficient property management for landowners."
