Number of Petition Supporters Required Reduced from 1,000 to 500
Busan Gijang-gun (Governor Jeong Jong-bok) announced on the 10th that, to revitalize the residents' petition system, the required number of petition supporters will be significantly reduced from 1,000 to 500 starting this year.
The residents' petition system serves as a communication channel where residents can directly voice their opinions on important community issues and is being promoted as a key pledge of the 8th local government administration.
If a petition receives the support of more than 500 people within 30 days of submission, the county will actively review it and provide a responsible response.
In particular, this system differs from other complaint systems focused on individual grievances, as it allows residents to freely express opinions on major county policies and current issues, with the departments responsible for county administration directly overseeing the process.
To revitalize the residents' petition system, the county plans not only to relax the supporter requirement starting this year but also to actively promote the petition application methods and procedures through the county website, SNS, and pamphlets available at eup/myeon administrative welfare centers.
Jeong Jong-bok, Governor of Gijang-gun, stated, "Through the residents' petition system, we expect residents to more easily voice their opinions on local policies and issues, thereby enhancing participation and communication in county administration."
Petition applications can be submitted via the county website's electronic civil service, in writing, by fax, or by mail. For other inquiries related to the residents' petition system, please contact the Planning and Audit Office of Gijang-gun.
