Jangseong County's Hwangryong District Drainage Improvement Project
Construction Scheduled to Begin in 2027
Jangseong County in Jeonnam has been selected for the 2025 drainage improvement project and has secured 9 billion KRW in national funding.
On the 10th, Jangseong County announced that it had proposed the "Hwangryong-myeon Drainage Improvement Project" to address drainage issues in Okjeong-ri and Hwangryong-ri of Hwangryong-myeon, and that the area was selected as a target site for a basic survey.

Accordingly, the county will install two drainage pump stations and one drainage gate, and expand the drainage channel by 1.37 kilometers. The project will benefit an area of 73 hectares (ha), and the entire project cost of 9 billion KRW will be covered by national funds, easing the financial burden.
The construction is expected to begin around 2027. This year, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs will commission the Korea Rural Community Corporation to conduct a basic survey and establish a basic plan. The selection of the project site, establishment of the implementation plan, and approval procedures will follow.
Okjeong-ri and Hwangryong-ri in Hwangryong-myeon, adjacent to the Hwangryonggang River, are areas that suffer from frequent flooding of low-lying farmland during the rainy season. A large-scale improvement project was urgently needed to resolve the inconvenience for residents.
The county achieved this result by repeatedly visiting Jeonnam Province and the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs to propose the necessity of the project, ultimately being selected as a target site for the basic survey of the drainage improvement project.
County Governor Kim Hanjong said, "We will complete the drainage improvement project as planned to protect the farmland in Hwangryong-myeon from flood damage."
