A Total Donation of 30 Million KRW Over Five Years
Seo District in Gwangju announced on the 10th that Ma Okcheon, master artisan (CEO of Babier Co., Ltd. in confectionery and bakery), has joined as the 48th member of Seo Honors.
Seo Honors is a group of major donors operated in collaboration with the Gwangju Community Chest of Korea.

Ma Okcheon has pledged to donate a total of 30 million KRW over five years, contributing 5 million KRW annually to support neighbors in need in Seo District. While running Babier Co., Ltd., Ma has been making and donating bread for over 20 years to senior welfare centers, nursing homes, and various social welfare organizations.
Additionally, together with Seo District, Ma is practicing a management philosophy of mutual growth and companionship by sharing success know-how and personal recipes with young entrepreneurs through programs such as 'Seo Master School.'
Kim Ikang, head of the district office, stated, "In just about three months since starting the Good Companionship initiative with Seo Honors, nearly 50 people have come together with their hearts." He added, "We will do our best to eliminate welfare blind spots through public-private cooperation and to make Seo District a happy welfare city all year round."
Seo Honors supports a variety of welfare projects that go beyond the limits of public assistance, such as basic living and housing benefits for vulnerable groups. Membership is granted to individuals and representatives of companies or corporations who make a lump-sum donation or pledge to donate at least 30 million KRW over five years to the Community Chest of Korea.
Meanwhile, Seo District is using these donations to promote public-private partnership projects, including visits to maternal relatives for multicultural families, support for low-income freshmen preparing for school, and activities for people with disabilities.
