Shinan County Launches Mobile 'Youth Health Class'

Operated at 98 Senior Centers in 14 Towns and Townships

Shinan County, Jeonnam Province (Governor Park Wooriang) announced on the 10th that it will operate the Senior Citizens' Youth Health Class and the Menopause Health Class to promote the health of local residents and support a vibrant life in old age.

This health class program will be held for 10 months until November, mainly at senior community centers where elderly residents gather. A professional external instructor will provide physical activity programs once a week.

In particular, by visiting even island regions where it is difficult to exercise, the county offers all residents equal opportunities to participate in physical activities.

The Senior Citizens' Youth Health Class will be operated at 98 senior centers in 14 towns and townships, providing exercises suitable for the elderly such as silver yoga and strength training, as well as guidance on health management methods.

The Menopause Health Class targets those in their 50s and older who are entering menopause, and will be held at welfare centers in eight towns and townships. It helps participants overcome menopause healthily through activities like line dance and small equipment exercise.

A county official stated, "We have prepared physical activity programs centered on daily living spaces so that local residents can easily participate, considering the characteristics of island regions," and added, "We plan to continue promoting various projects to improve residents' health."
