So Far, Two Injured in the Onsan Industrial Complex Explosion
Authorities Expect Fire Suppression to Take Considerable Time
On the morning of the 10th, a fuel storage tank exploded at Onsan Industrial Complex in Ulju-gun, Ulsan, injuring two people.
According to the National Fire Agency, the explosion was reported at 11:15 a.m., and at 11:34 a.m., the fire authorities issued Response Level 1, followed by Response Level 2 at 11:38 a.m.
As of 1 p.m., 91 personnel in their 40s from seven fire stations have been deployed to suppress the fire. The fire authorities expect that it will take a considerable amount of time to fully extinguish the fire.
So far, two injured persons have been confirmed from this accident, and the exact extent of their injuries is being assessed.
Ko Gi-dong, Acting Minister of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, issued an urgent directive regarding the accident, stating, "The fire department, police, and local governments should mobilize all available personnel and equipment to fully concentrate on fire suppression and do their utmost to prevent any safety accidents involving firefighters during the fire suppression process."
