Yeongju City Officials Receive Consecutive Awards Including Presidential Citation

Three Exemplary Officials Receive Prime Minister’s Citation, Among Other Honorees

Yeongju City recently announced on the 10th that it has produced numerous government award recipients, including those who received the Presidential Citation in recognition of their contributions to social development in various fields.

Kim Han-deuk, Head of the Public Relations and Computer Office, was selected as an ‘Outstanding Public Official of 2024’ by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and received the Presidential Citation.

The ‘Outstanding Public Official of the Republic of Korea’ is a system established by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety since 1973 to discover, encourage, and reward public officials who demonstrate creativity and exemplary leadership in various fields of public service and significantly contribute to national development. As the award is selected through a comprehensive evaluation of contributions to local communities and the public service sector, it is considered one of the most prestigious honors for public officials.

Kim Han-deuk, who was selected as a recipient of the Presidential Citation this time, began his public service career in 1991 as an administrative official in Yeongju City and has built trust with fellow public officials and citizens through sincere work over more than 30 years across various departments.

He has also played an active role in promoting communication and harmony among staff to revitalize the local economy and create a creative public official organization.

A Yeongju City official stated, “Kim Han-deuk, Head of the Public Relations and Computer Office, is a true public official who has received high evaluations in various areas such as contributions to regional development, achievements, contributions to the public service community, social reputation, and recognition. We believe that his efforts being recognized through this award will greatly contribute to fostering a clean and diligent atmosphere within Yeongju’s public service community.”

Kim Han-deuk expressed his award acceptance, saying, “I am very honored to receive such a prestigious award as the Presidential Citation. With a heart of service and sacrifice, I will continue to strive to be a model public official for the development of the local community and the nation.”

In addition to Kim Han-deuk, Yeongju City also celebrated three others who were selected as exemplary government officials and received the Prime Minister’s Citation: Son Hyun-sook, Head of the Economic Planning Team in the Job and Economy Division; Park Myung-shin, Head of the Sports Facilities Team in the Sports Promotion Division; and Baek Seung-hoon, Head of the Contract Team in the Accounting Division. Furthermore, Ha Sung-woo, an administrative officer in the General Affairs Division, received the Minister of the Interior and Safety’s Citation for Outstanding Public Officials, among many other government award recipients.
