Outstanding Voice Performances in Works Like "Mazinger Z"
A Respected "Guide to Speech Education" Who Nurtured the Next Generation
Voice actor and actor Choi Byung-hak passed away on the 8th. He was 85 years old. According to his family on the 10th, he died that afternoon from acute myocardial infarction.
Born in 1940 in Yecheon, Gyeongbuk, the late Choi joined Korean Broadcasting (now EBS) in 1961 and entered MBC Voice Acting Troupe as part of the 2nd class in 1965. He passionately performed with his voice in animations such as "Mazinger Z" and "Ultra Expedition Team," as well as in foreign films and radio dramas, earning the Male Voice Actor Award at the 19th Korea Broadcasting Awards in 1992. He was also active as an actor, with representative works including the dramas "The Third Republic," "Love and Ambition," "Silver Grass," and "Love and War."
He was called the "Guide to Speech Education." He consistently lectured at universities and broadcasting academies, spreading proper speech techniques. He also published books such as "The Way to Stand in Front of the Microphone," "Broadcast Speech," and "Choi Byung-hak's Speech Odyssey."
The funeral parlor was set up in Room 1 of the Catholic University of Korea Seoul St. Mary's Hospital Funeral Hall in Seoul. The funeral procession will be held at 7:10 a.m. on the 11th.
