Kwon Young-se: "Lee Jae-myung's Pragmatism, Overissued Bad Checks to Seize Power"

On the 10th, Kwon Young-se, Emergency Response Committee Chairman of the People Power Party, evaluated Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, and his rightward shift as "a de facto bounced check recklessly issued solely for the purpose of gaining power."

Chairman Kwon pointed out at the Emergency Response Committee meeting that morning, "Lee's trademark vacillating politics is becoming increasingly absurd," adding, "It is dizzying for the public watching."

He explained that Lee presided over a forum on the Semiconductor Special Act and hinted at accepting an exemption from the 52-hour workweek for related researchers and developers, but then reversed his stance after facing opposition from within his party and labor unions.

Chairman Kwon said, "The public is cynical about Lee's rightward shift because he is floundering even over a single exemption from the 52-hour workweek," and questioned, "Who would believe the rosy blueprint he presents, such as achieving a 3% economic growth rate within five years and nurturing six Samsung Electronics-level companies?"

Kwon Seong-dong, floor leader of the People Power Party, also targeted Lee's pro-business moves, criticizing, "He proclaims pro-business with his mouth but creates anti-business bills with his hands," and added, "It's like claiming to be a vegetarian while tearing into chicken." He further stated, "No one believes Lee's so-called pragmatism; it only appears as another lie of the Ripley syndrome."

Regarding the Constitutional Court, he urged that before questioning the fact of bipartisan agreement on the appointment of Ma Eun-hyuk as a constitutional court justice candidate, a conclusion must first be reached on the quorum required for the impeachment resolution against Acting President Han Duck-soo. Chairman Kwon said, "Bipartisan agreement is a political issue, but the quorum for impeachment resolution and the authority of the Speaker of the National Assembly are legal issues," and criticized, "If constitutional justices examine political issues first instead of legal issues, it will be difficult to avoid the stigma of being a political court."
