Continuing TEL FOR GOOD Activities
for "Creating Shared Value with Local Communities"
Tokyo Electron Korea (CEO Won Je-hyung), a global leader in the semiconductor manufacturing equipment industry, announced that on February 8th, it conducted a job experience activity for children from vulnerable groups at KidZania in Songpa-gu, Seoul.
Tokyo Electron Korea has been running the donation walking campaign ‘Arukifu’ for three years, involving its employees. Through the funds raised from this campaign, the company carries out various activities to support children from vulnerable groups.
The event titled “Dream Finding Job Experience with Tokyo Electron Korea” was held in collaboration with Save the Children, an NGO dedicated to child relief activities. About 60 participants, including children and teachers from two child welfare facilities for vulnerable groups in Gyeonggi Province, attended the event. More than 20 employee volunteers from Tokyo Electron Korea also participated, guiding the children and assisting with the event.
Before the main job experience activities, the children gathered for orientation, including group formation, and enjoyed several magic shows using balloons and lasers. Afterwards, together with teachers and employee volunteers, they toured various parts of KidZania and experienced different professions such as firefighter, architect, police officer, and athlete. Notably, through the job experience, they had the opportunity to engage in economic activities similar to real life and learn economic concepts such as income and expenditure. The employee volunteers, as current professionals, provided detailed explanations about the world of work that interested the children, facilitating the event and communication. Tokyo Electron Korea provided KidZania admission tickets, lunch, transportation buses, and souvenir stationery sets.
A teacher from one of the participating child welfare facilities commented, “Thanks to Tokyo Electron Korea’s sponsorship, the children were able to enjoy a fun and meaningful experience, learning about the many different jobs and reflecting on their own future aspirations.”
This event was planned as part of the TEL FOR GOOD initiative to practice ‘Creating Shared Value with Local Communities.’ Under the social contribution brand TEL FOR GOOD, Tokyo Electron Korea is making multifaceted efforts to fulfill its corporate social responsibility (CSR) through various internal and external activities. TEL FOR GOOD focuses on three main goals: ‘Technology and Innovation,’ ‘Preservation of the Global Environment,’ and ‘Creating Shared Value with Local Communities.’
