Achieving 0g Sugar with Alternative Sweetener Stevia
Expanding Options with the Launch of a Decaffeinated Version
As the trend of pursuing both health and taste, known as ‘Healthy Pleasure,’ spreads, Namyang Dairy Products’ ‘French Cafe Cafe Mix Stevia,’ launched in 2022, is gaining attention as a zero-sugar (0g) coffee mix. By using the alternative sweetener stevia, it contains only 28 kcal per packet, significantly reducing calories compared to traditional coffee mixes, making it popular among consumers seeking healthier coffee options.
Since the product launch, Namyang Dairy Products has continuously upgraded the taste and nutritional balance of the stevia coffee mix through ongoing research and development. In 2023, instead of the commonly used sweeteners in existing stevia coffee mix products, Namyang collaborated with a sweetener manufacturer to develop and apply ‘Bio Oligo S100.’ Additionally, they utilized a ‘non-fat concentrated milk’ creamer made from 1A grade milk, which contains no fat but is rich in protein and calcium, creating a stevia coffee mix that preserves the natural smooth taste of milk while considering nutritional balance.
Based on this research and development, French Cafe Stevia has established itself as a coffee mix product that goes beyond a simple ‘zero sugar’ product, offering nutritional balance with 15 mg of sodium, 7.7 g of carbohydrates, 1.4 g of fat, and 1.4 g of saturated fat.
In 2023, Namyang Dairy Products expanded consumer choices by launching ‘French Cafe Stevia Decaffeinated’ for consumers who prefer decaffeinated coffee. As a result of this research and development and consumer-tailored product strategy, French Cafe Stevia recently surpassed cumulative sales of 100 million cups, establishing itself as a ‘healthy coffee mix’ with no calorie burden.
Meanwhile, Namyang Dairy Products has also developed various low-sugar concept products that have received positive responses from consumers. These include the protein drink ‘Takefit Max,’ designed with low sugar, low carbohydrates, and high protein; ‘Stevia Yogurt,’ which uses enzyme-treated stevia and reduces sugar content by 80% compared to the average fermented milk sugar content regulated by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety; and the plant-based beverage ‘Almond Day Unsweet,’ which retains the rich and savory flavor of almonds while reducing sugar and calories.
A Namyang Dairy Products representative stated, “Namyang Dairy Products is continuously researching products that consider healthy taste and nutritional balance beyond simple zero sugar,” adding, “We will expand products that help consumers make healthy choices, including French Cafe Stevia, as well as low sugar, low carbohydrate, and high protein options.”
