"I Will End This Damn War... If I Had Been President, There Would Have Been No War"
U.S. President Donald Trump revealed that he spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin about ending the war in Ukraine.
The U.S. daily New York Post reported on the 8th (local time) that President Trump disclosed in an interview that he had a phone call with President Putin, saying, "He (Putin) does not want to see people dying."
When asked how many times the two leaders had spoken, President Trump avoided answering, saying, "It's better not to say." He expressed his belief that President Putin "cares" about people dying in the war and emphasized, "He does not want to see people die." He added, "All those who have died, young and beautiful people, they are like your children. Two million people have died for no reason."
He also blamed former President Joe Biden for the war, saying that if he had been president when the Ukraine war broke out, there would have been no war. He said, "I have always had a good relationship with President Putin," and harshly criticized former President Biden, calling him "a disgrace to the country. A complete disgrace."
He claimed to have a concrete plan to end the Ukraine war. He emphasized, "People are dying every day. Young and handsome soldiers are being killed. Young people like my sons. On both sides, young people are dying on every battlefield," adding, "This war in Ukraine is terrible. I want to end this damn war."
President Trump told White House National Security Advisor Mike Waltz, "Let's push for this meeting (with Putin)," saying, "They want to meet."
Additionally, President Trump pledged to achieve denuclearization through negotiations with Iran. He said, "I want to conclude denuclearization talks with Iran. I prefer that over damn bombing. They do not want to die. No one wants to die. If the negotiations are concluded, Israel will not strike (Iran)."
Regarding Iran, he added, "I hope they decide not to do what they are thinking about doing now," and said, "I will tell them that I will make a deal." When asked what he would offer Iran in return, he replied, "It's too terrible to say. I will not strike (Iran)."
