Mayor Shin: "Aiming to Develop as a City Leading the Fourth Industrial Revolution in Northeast Asia"

Shin Sang-jin, mayor of Seongnam City, Gyeonggi Province, announced on the 9th that he visited the Heilongjiang Provincial Department of Commerce in Harbin, China, and the Korea-China International Startup Innovation Center on the 8th to discuss economic cooperation plans with Seongnam City.

The Heilongjiang Provincial Department of Commerce is a department that implements national development strategies and policies related to domestic and international trade, foreign investment utilization, and international economic cooperation. It plays a role in promoting the expansion of foreign trade scale, optimizing industrial structure, and developing open platforms. The meeting was attended by Shin Sang-jin, mayor of Seongnam, and Xing Yingna, vice director of the Heilongjiang Provincial Department of Commerce, among others.


Mayor Shin said, “Harbin is a science and technology innovation city with more than 50 higher education institutions, over 500 research institutes, and a national-level high-tech industrial park.” He added, “I hope Seongnam and Harbin will cooperate mutually and develop together as cities leading the Fourth Industrial Revolution in Northeast Asia.”


The Korea-China International Startup Innovation Center, which was visited next, is an institution that supports Korean technology innovation companies entering the Chinese market. It provides various administrative and legal services such as business matching, licensing procedures, trademark and intellectual property applications. Kim Hak-bong, CEO of the Korea-China International Startup Innovation Center, also attended the meeting.


Mayor Shin stated, “Seongnam is accelerating its leap as a global advanced industrial city centered on Pangyo Techno Valley, with KAIST AI education and research facilities, Yatap Valley, the System Semiconductor Testbed Center, and the Biohealth Advanced Cluster.” He added, “I look forward to Seongnam advancing as a global city through organic cooperation with the Korea-China International Startup Innovation Center.”


Meanwhile, prior to the institutional visits, Mayor Shin personally met and encouraged the short track national team athletes from Seongnam City who participated in the Winter Asian Games held in Harbin.
