A Korea Coast Guard boat capsized while searching for missing persons from the 22nd Seogyeongho, which sank off the coast near Yeosu, Jeollanam-do.
According to the Coast Guard on the 9th, a 5-ton Coast Guard boat capsized due to high waves in bad weather about 17 km east of Habakdo, Samsan-myeon, Yeosu City, in the morning. The Coast Guard immediately dispatched another boat to rescue the crew members on board, and no casualties were reported.
Meanwhile, at around 1:41 a.m. that day, a report was received that the 139-ton large trawl vessel 22nd Seogyeongho, carrying 14 people, had sunk in the accident area. So far, 8 people have been rescued, among whom 3 have died and 1 is in cardiac arrest. The Coast Guard continues to search for the remaining 6 missing persons.
