"Strengthening Labor Flexibility While Calling for Employment Stability?"
"From Blocking Support for the Super-Rich to Now Supporting Corporations"
"Full of Contradictions, Resembling Representative Lee Jaemyung"
Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon criticized, "The Democratic Party of Korea's 'Growth Strategy for the Republic of Korea' is full of contradictions. I cannot shake the thought that it resembles Representative Lee Jae-myung."
Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon criticized the seminar titled 'Growth is the Democratic Party, South Korea's Growth Strategy.' Seoul City
On the 8th, Mayor Oh said on Facebook, "Rather than a growth strategy, it is closer to a political slogan that gathers all sorts of seemingly good things." This appears to be directed at the ruling plan headquarters, the Democratic Party's presidential election preparation organization, which held a seminar titled "Growth is the Democratic Party, Growth Strategy for the Republic of Korea" at the National Assembly on the 6th. The headquarters set a goal of achieving economic growth in the 3% range within five years and aimed to appeal to the moderate voter base. Unlike previous emphasis on "inclusive growth" and "income-led growth," which stressed distribution and balance, this is the first time the party has emphasized "growth" itself.
Regarding this, Mayor Oh pointed out, "They say the key to growth lies in companies like American Big Tech, while also stating that Korea should establish a government-led AI national research institute and directly attract talent." He added, "They also emphasize a government-led economic control tower. The state cannot simultaneously operate research institutes, control industries, and create a corporate-led innovation ecosystem." He criticized, "In labor policy, they say they will make the labor market flexible while simultaneously strengthening employment stability. All of this is nothing but an attempt to create a 'cold flame'." He also noted the contradiction in "criticizing FTA models including the Korea-US FTA while emphasizing global cooperation, networks, and attracting overseas investment."
He continued, "Growth is possible through companies and technological development. Anyone who joins the ranks of growth theory is welcome," but added, "However, shouting 'pseudo-growth theory' without sincerity or clear direction will achieve nothing." He further criticized, "The Democratic Party was, until recently, a party opposing corporate support as 'support for ultra-rich large corporations.' Now, ahead of elections, they suddenly emphasize economic growth and corporate support. Can a party that changes its stance whenever necessary without principles be responsible for the future of the Republic of Korea?"
