Heavy Snow Warnings Issued for 10 Locations in Gwangju and Jeonnam, 4 in Jeonbuk
3 to 8 cm Expected by the 9th, Over 10 cm in Some Areas

Gwangju and the entire Jeonnam and Jeonbuk regions have been experiencing heavy snowfall for six consecutive days.
As of 9 a.m. on the 8th, heavy snow warnings are in effect for 10 locations in Gwangju and Jeonnam (Naju, Jangseong, Haenam, Yeongam, Muan, Hampyeong, Yeonggwang, Mokpo, Shinan, Jindo) and 4 locations in Jeonbuk (Gochang, Buan, Gunsan, Gimje).
So far, the recorded snowfall amounts are 19.0 cm in Shinan, Jeonnam; 17.6 cm in Naju; 16.9 cm in Jangseong; 15.7 cm in Hampyeong; and 15.1 cm in Gwangsan, Gwangju.
In Jeonbuk, the snowfall amounts were 33.1 cm in Bokheung, Sunchang; 32.1 cm in Seolcheonbong, Muju; 25.1 cm in Gochang; 22.4 cm in Jeongeup; and 21.2 cm in Buan.
Since the 3rd, Gwangju has received 56 reports, including 34 cases of falls, 6 traffic accidents, 8 icicle removals, and 8 icy road safety measures. In Jeonnam, there were 36 reports, including vehicles slipping on snowy roads and overturning down hills, which were handled by fire authorities.

Due to the heavy snowfall, seven roads in Jeonnam (Nogodan Road in Gurye, Cheongsu-gil in Muan, Dumojae in Jindo, Dabujat-gil in Mokpo, Sol Beach access road in Jindo, Dotjae section in Hwasun, National Army Hospital local road in Hampyeong), five national parks (Jirisan, Naejangsan, Wolchulsan, Mudeungsan, Dadohae), 49 sea routes, and 63 vessels have been restricted.
At Gwangju Airport, 15 passenger flights have been canceled, and all routes at Yeosu Airport have been suspended.
An official from the Korea Meteorological Administration said, "Snow accumulation and icy roads are expected on side streets, alleys, sloped roads, and shaded areas, so please pay attention to traffic and pedestrian safety."
