Afforestation and Forest Tending on 1,156 Hectares This Year
Management Delegated to the Forestry Cooperative
Yangsan City will invest 3 billion KRW in 2025 to implement afforestation on 23 hectares and forest tending on 1,133 hectares.
The city has been conducting afforestation and forest tending projects annually to promote economic forests in private forests and to expand carbon sinks in response to the climate crisis.
To ensure active participation of forest owners and professional, systematic project implementation, the afforestation and forest tending projects will be managed by the Yangsan City Forestry Cooperative, a specialized forestry organization, through a selection process for the project executor.
The management of forestry projects will be overseen by Yangsan City, which will supervise all related tasks, while the executor, Yangsan City Forestry Cooperative, will handle everything from obtaining forest owners' consent to design, supervision, project ordering, and management. Construction will be carried out by specialized forestry companies, which is expected to improve forest owners' satisfaction, professionalize forestry projects, and contribute to job creation in related fields.
Kim Cheol-hwan, Director of the Forestry Division, stated, “Yangsan City will do its best to systematically manage public and private forests, prevent various damages such as forest fires, and promote the public functions of forests and the development of economic forests.” He also urged, “Forest owners who wish to participate in afforestation or forest tending are encouraged to apply year-round to the Yangsan City Forestry Division or the Yangsan City Forestry Cooperative.”
