Gimhae City in Gyeongnam Province is issuing exclusive gift certificates for the public delivery app ‘Meokkebi’ and launching a special discount event.
Starting at 11 a.m. on the 7th of this month, the city began issuing 7% discount gift certificates that can only be used on Meokkebi.
The purchase limit is 300,000 KRW per person, and the certificates can only be purchased through mobile apps such as Beeple Pay, Gyeongnam Sarang Gift Certificate, NH All One Bank, and Shinhan SOL.
Additionally, as a special event for public livelihood stabilization in February, a 3,000 KRW discount coupon is provided for orders over 12,000 KRW, which can be used immediately.
Both new members and returning customers will receive a 2,000 KRW discount coupon.
The discounts are applied at the time of order, and these two coupons can be used together.
The Gimhae public delivery app Meokkebi officially launched in May 2022 and has recorded cumulative sales of 10 billion KRW and a total of 380,000 orders.
To support small business owners struggling with high commissions from private delivery apps, the city set a low brokerage fee of 1.5%, one of the lowest nationwide, and allowed payment with the discounted Gimhae Sarang Gift Certificate to reduce the burden on consumers.
This year, various discount events and campaigns, including the February event, will be held to promote the public delivery app and support small business owners.
Small business owners who wish to register on Meokkebi should prepare registration documents such as a business registration certificate, business report, and bankbook copy, and apply for registration through the Meokkebi website or customer center.
A city official said, “We will do our best to activate the public delivery app to establish a valuable consumption culture where consumers and small business owners coexist,” and added, “We hope for active participation in Meokkebi registration and continuous interest and use for Meokkebi’s sustainable growth.”
