Police Investigate 107 Individuals, Detain 70 in Connection with Court Incident
Four more individuals have been arrested on charges of participating in the violent incident at the Seoul Western District Court.
On the 7th, Judge Kang Hyuk-seong of Civil Division 61 at the Seoul Western District Court conducted a pre-arrest detention hearing for four people in their 20s, including a man identified as A, who are accused of joint trespassing under the Act on the Punishment of Violent Crimes. He issued arrest warrants, citing concerns that they might flee.
Mr. A is accused of breaking into the court wearing a black mask and throwing a fire extinguisher at a glass door and damaging a civil complaint desk in the early hours of the 19th of last month, following the arrest of President Yoon Seok-yeol. The other three individuals are also believed to have participated in the court break-in and the ensuing incident.
The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency is investigating 107 participants identified so far in connection with the mass illegal acts that occurred inside and around the Western District Court on the 18th and 19th of last month. With the arrest of Mr. A and others, the total number of detainees has risen to 70.
The police stated, "We will continue the investigation by identifying illegal actors through analysis of closed-circuit television (CCTV), YouTube videos, and collected evidence."
