Highly Praised for Customized Delinquent Tax Collection for Foreign Residents and Establishment of a Smart One-Stop Window at the Comprehensive Civil Service Office
Dongdaemun-gu (District Mayor Lee Pil-hyung) announced on the 7th that it was honored to be selected as the "Best Institution" by ranking first among 69 autonomous districts nationwide in the '2024 Comprehensive Civil Service Evaluation' jointly hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission.
The Comprehensive Civil Service Evaluation is a system that evaluates the civil service operation performance over one year for 307 institutions nationwide (47 central administrative agencies, 17 metropolitan and provincial offices of education, 17 metropolitan local governments, and 226 basic local governments) and assigns grades.
The evaluation criteria consist of ▲civil service administration strategy and system ▲civil service system operation ▲handling of civil complaints via the National Sinmungo (online civil complaint system) ▲handling of grievances ▲civil service satisfaction.
Dongdaemun-gu has been selected as the best institution for six consecutive years since 2017, and in this evaluation, it received the highest score among autonomous districts nationwide and is scheduled to receive the Prime Minister's Commendation in March.
The district has continuously strived to improve civil services, including ▲establishing a smart one-stop window at the comprehensive civil service office and ▲operating an accompaniment (greeting and seeing off) service for the visually impaired. In particular, it contributed to raising foreign residents' tax awareness and satisfaction by sending delinquent tax notices and guidance documents in Korean, English, and Chinese to help foreigners easily understand the notification information, thereby conducting customized delinquent tax collection activities for foreigners.
Additionally, ▲strengthening protective measures for civil service processing staff and ▲excellent performance in legal responses such as lawsuits and complaints at the institutional level were highly evaluated for efforts to create a civil service environment for both residents and employees.
Dongdaemun-gu was also selected as an 'Excellent Institution for the 2024 National Happiness Civil Service Office' hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety last year and received the Prime Minister's Commendation for creating a user-centered civil service office environment.
Lee Pil-hyung, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, stated, "This selection as the best institution is a valuable achievement made possible by the dedication of our staff and communication with residents," and added, "We will continue to do our best to provide the best civil services that residents can feel."
