Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo District, personally inspected areas vulnerable to freezing due to winter snowfall, including Gongdeok-dong, Yeomni-dong, and Seongsan-dong, on the morning of the 7th.
The weather on the 7th saw temperatures drop to below freezing (around -7℃) during commuting hours, raising concerns about icy road surfaces.
Mayor Park Gang-su checked the snow removal equipment and participated directly in snow removal operations. He focused especially on inspecting whether the road heating systems were functioning properly.
The inspection sites included steep hills and areas with pedestrian safety concerns, such as in front of the Hankyoreh Newspaper in Gongdeok-dong, near Hwanil High School in Ahyeon-dong, Seogang Church, near Seoul Girls' Middle and High School in Yeomni-dong, and the Seongsan Overpass.
To prevent winter slipping accidents and ensure smooth traffic flow, road heating systems have been installed at ▲Hwanil-gil (between Soeui Elementary School and Hwanil High School), ▲Baekbeom-ro 25-gil (near Seoul Girls' Middle and High School), ▲World Cup Buk-ro 30-gil (near Seongsan Overpass), and ▲Dokmak-ro 28-gil (near Seongwon Sangteville Apartments in Sinsu-dong).
Mayor Park Gang-su stated, “I re-inspected whether the road heating systems installed in various freezing-prone sections are operating properly during snowfall,” and added, “Through proactive on-site inspections, we will do our best to prevent winter freezing accidents so that residents can travel safely.”
