CGV announced on the 7th that its consolidated financial statements for last year showed sales of 1,957.9 billion KRW and operating profit of 75.9 billion KRW, achieving a profit for two consecutive years.
CGV attributed this performance to the global expansion of its special theater ScreenX and the growth of the Southeast Asian film markets such as Vietnam and Indonesia.
Domestically, CGV struggled as the overall film market shrank due to a lack of hit movies in the second half of the year. CGV's domestic sales decreased by 14.5 billion KRW (1.9%) to 758.8 billion KRW. It posted an operating loss of 7.6 billion KRW, returning to the red.
