Submissions Accepted Until the 28th
Aiming for Completion by the End of 2027
Jinan County in North Jeolla Province is accepting submissions for the official name of the planned "Hakcheon District Multipurpose Cultural Plaza (tentative name)" in the Hakcheon District until the 28th.
According to the county on the 7th, the Hakcheon District Multipurpose Cultural Plaza (tentative name) is a complex plaza connected to various cultural facilities such as the Wisdom Forest Library, Jinan Plateau Culture and Arts Center, and ON Gajok Daolmaru (Rural Agreement Support Center).

With a total floor area of 4,970 square meters, the plaza will feature a public parking lot with 180 spaces on the first basement level and an upper plaza designed as a representative eco-friendly space in the city center to support a variety of activities and events for residents.
The county had been temporarily using the Hakcheon District as a parking lot and event space for locations such as the Jinan Plateau Chili Market and Kimchi Bossam Festival. However, a public parking lot has now been established near the Jinan Plateau Market.
By developing lifestyle convenience facilities in a complex and connecting them with Wollang Park, the county expects this project to bring significant changes to the urban living environment, establishing the Hakcheon District as a complex platform where nature and culture coexist.
The naming contest is open to everyone. Participants can download the "Naming Contest Application Form" from the county office website, fill it out, and submit one entry per person via email.
Entries will first be reviewed by an internal committee, which will select three finalists. The winner will then be chosen based on the highest combined score from a second round of preference voting.
The grand prize winner will receive a Jinan Plateau Happiness Gift Certificate worth 300,000 KRW, the runner-up will receive one worth 200,000 KRW, and the third-place winner will receive one worth 100,000 KRW. Results will be announced individually or posted on the county website.
The county expects that this naming contest will increase public interest in the Hakcheon District complex development and allow a variety of resident ideas to be reflected in the plaza's name.
A county official stated, "We expect the Hakcheon District Multipurpose Cultural Plaza (tentative name) to become a landmark space in the region, offering diverse cultural experiences and eco-friendly spaces. We hope many residents will participate in the naming contest and submit symbolic, easy-to-pronounce, and creative names."
