Taean Marine Healing Center to Be Built in the Dalsanpo Sports Park Area of Nam-myeon

With the opening of the Marine Healing Center scheduled for this year, Taean County in Chungnam has been named a 'K-Wellness City' by the Korea Wellness Industry Association.
Taean County announced that, following the results of the '2025 K-Wellness City' selection, it was chosen as the K-Wellness City in the marine healing sector. On the 7th, a proclamation ceremony for the 'K-Wellness Marine Healing City' was held in the county office's small conference room, attended by County Governor Garo Ka and Korea Wellness Industry Association President Kim Mija, among others.
'K-Wellness City' is a designation for cities representing Korea in well-being, happiness, and fitness. Since 2019, the Korea Wellness Industry Association, a leading private wellness organization, has comprehensively evaluated local governments nationwide based on their wellness infrastructure, achievements, and future plans for nurturing the wellness industry.
Taean County received high marks for the determination of its leadership, the appropriateness of infrastructure utilization, related business plans, community participation, and organizational capacity. In particular, the county's efforts and progress in establishing the Taean Marine Healing Center were highly evaluated.
The Taean Marine Healing Center is a comprehensive facility that operates a variety of marine healing programs utilizing Taean's natural marine healing resources, such as peat, salt, and saline groundwater. A total of 34 billion KRW is being invested to construct the center with one basement floor and two above-ground floors, covering a total area of 8,478 square meters in the Dalsanpo Sports Park area of Nam-myeon.
The construction is scheduled for completion in June, after which a trial operation will be conducted before its official opening in the second half of the year as the only National Marine Healing Center on the West Coast. Upon opening, it will be the second to launch among the five pilot regions nationwide (Wando in Jeonnam, Taean in Chungnam, Uljin in Gyeongbuk, Goseong in Gyeongnam, and Seogwipo in Jeju), following the Wando Marine Healing Center.
County Governor Garo Ka stated, "With this selection, we will continue our efforts to ensure Taean County grows as a leading wellness city in Korea," and added, "We will mobilize all of the county's resources so that the Taean Marine Healing Center, which we have been preparing with great focus, can receive widespread support from the public."
Meanwhile, local governments selected as 'K-Wellness Cities' hold the authority to represent their respective regions as wellness cities for three years. The Korea Wellness Industry Association will give priority to promoting these selected regions during domestic and international exhibitions and conferences, such as the 'K-Wellness Food & Tourism Fair,' 'K-Wellness Day,' and 'K-Wellness Food & Lifestyle Expo.'
