Imsil County Selected for Rural Space Improvement Project Hosted by Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs

A Total Project Budget of 3 Billion KRW to Be Invested by 2027

Imsil County in North Jeolla Province announced on the 7th that it has been finally selected for the "2025 Rural Space Improvement Project" organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (hereinafter referred to as the Ministry of Agriculture and Food).

The Ministry of Agriculture and Food has selected 12 districts, including Imsil County in North Jeolla Special Self-Governing Province, as the first new support targets for the 2025 Rural Space Improvement Project, which aims to create pleasant and livable rural residential spaces and enhance the unique characteristics of rural areas.

This project supports the improvement and relocation of poorly planned facilities that deteriorate the quality of life for village residents, such as those causing odor, noise, and pollutant emissions. It also assists in utilizing the improved sites as rest areas or community facilities for residents.

From this year until 2027, the county will invest a total project budget of 3 billion KRW (1.5 billion KRW in national funds and 1.5 billion KRW in local funds) to implement the "Imsil County Seongsu-myeon Taepyeong District Rural Space Improvement Project."

The project site, which includes pig farms subject to acquisition, is located near Imsil Cheese Theme Park, Seongsusan King's Forest Natural Recreation Forest, and Imsil IC, which are representative tourist attractions of Imsil County. Therefore, priority negotiations for purchase will be conducted for livestock farms that have been the source of chronic and recurring civil complaints.

Thanks to the persistent efforts of the relevant departments in Imsil County, written consent was obtained from the owners regarding land acquisition, removal of obstacles, and compensation.

Despite difficult financial conditions such as reductions in local allocation tax, the county actively responded to the public offering project to secure fiscal soundness and revitalize the local economy. As a result, it was selected for the 2025 Rural Space Improvement Project through an in-person evaluation by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food last month, securing the necessary budget.

County Governor Sim Min said, "With the selection of this project, we expect not only to improve the quality of life through proactive responses to areas where residents have experienced many difficulties, but also to contribute to improving the residential conditions in rural areas."
