Presentation of Innovative Policy Measures Tailored to Regional Characteristics

The Muan County Council of Jeollanam-do (Chairperson Lee Hosung) held a final report meeting for research projects on the 7th in the council seminar room. The meeting was organized by the council’s research groups: the Single-Person Household Policy Development Research Group (Representative Lim Donghyun) and the Women Farmers Policy Research Group (Representative Jung Eunkyung).

This report meeting was held to share the results and opinions of the research projects that each group has been conducting since July last year in order to prepare policy alternatives for current issues. Around 30 participants attended, including members of the research groups, responsible researchers, and officials from related departments.

The Women Farmers Policy Research Group conducted research on the “Survey on the Status of Women Farmers and Regional Specialized Policy Measures,” suggesting policy alternatives such as: ▲introducing a system for asset formation in farming households through evaluation of farming activities ▲measures to improve satisfaction with jobs and cultural life ▲development of capacity-building models for women farmers.

Chairperson Lee Hosung stated, “This research project has proposed several innovative policy measures suitable for the characteristics of our region,” and added, “We will do our best to ensure that these do not remain as mere possibilities but are addressed as effective agenda items through ordinance enactment and policy recommendations, as well as follow-up policy activities.”
