Song Sang-geun, Former Vice Minister of Oceans and Fisheries, Appointed as the 8th President of Busan Port Authority

The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries announced on the 7th that Song Sang-geun, former Vice Minister of Oceans and Fisheries, has been appointed as the 8th President of Busan Port Authority.


President Song began his public service career in 1992 after passing the 36th Administrative Examination. He has held key positions including Head of Port Logistics Division at Busan Regional Oceans and Fisheries Office, Head of Port Logistics Planning Division at the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, Spokesperson for the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, Minister-Counselor at the Embassy in the UK, and Director of the Maritime Policy Office at the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries. He concluded his public service career after serving as Vice Minister of Oceans and Fisheries.


President Song is recognized as an expert in shipping, ports, and international logistics, possessing not only extensive experience and expertise in all aspects of oceans and fisheries but also an international perspective. The authority is expected to swiftly advance major issues of Busan Port, including management stabilization, development of Busan Port Jinhae New Port, and redevelopment of the North Port.


His term will be three years, from the 10th of this month until February 9, 2028.
