Ulsan Office of Education Supports Teacher-Led Classroom Changes Including Seed Teacher Program

Voluntary Classes Centered on Learning, Practice, and Sharing
Creating a Collaborative Teaching Culture with Fellow Teachers

Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education (Superintendent Cheon Chang-su) supports voluntary and proactive changes in teaching by teachers to cultivate students' future competencies through classes involving discussions and questions.

The Ulsan Office of Education recently announced to schools the "2025 Practice-Oriented Class Change Activation Plan" containing these details.

This plan aims to support teacher-led instructional innovation under the educational indicator "A School Where Learning Becomes Life" and to bring about practical changes in the school field.

To this end, practice-oriented voluntary class changes will be made from three aspects: "Learning-Practice-Sharing."

First, to promote learning-centered classes, a "Class Design Competency Enhancement Camp" will be newly established to strengthen teachers' capabilities for creative lesson planning and execution. The camp will be held in February, July, and December for middle school teachers who wish to participate.

At this camp, practical training to enhance teaching competencies will be conducted, including subject-specific research task lesson design practice, evaluation feedback, and development of student-participatory class models.

Additionally, through the "Senior Teacher Class Sharing Festival," excellent class cases will be shared, and in-depth teaching professionalism will be supported to foster a collaborative learning culture among teachers.

For practice-oriented classes, the "Seed Teacher System" and "Haedoji School" will be newly promoted this year.

"Seed Teachers" are teachers who lead instructional innovation within schools by forming "classmate" relationships and creating a collaborative teaching culture with fellow teachers to improve the teaching environment.

"Haedoji School" operates as a professional practice community where teachers can challenge new educational methods without fear of failure. This helps teachers attempt experimental and creative classes.

To activate sharing of teaching cases, the "Class Collection Repository (Platform)" will be established to systematically accumulate and share teaching cases and instructional materials, providing an online foundation.

Also, on the third Thursday of every month, the "Tail-to-Tail Class Stories" session will be held to share various class cases by subject and teaching method, expanding practical learning opportunities among teachers.

Han Seong-gi, Director of Secondary Education, said, "We focus on supporting teachers' voluntary and proactive instructional innovation to develop students' future competencies. Especially with the newly introduced programs, we expect teachers to grow as teaching experts, which will bring about practical changes in the school field."
