Kim Boo-gyeom Thanks Yoo Si-min for Advising to Read More Books, What Happened?

In Response to Yoo Si-min's Criticism, Says "Thank You for the Advice"
Visits Gwangju from the 7th to 9th... Remains Reserved on Presidential Bid Questions

Former Prime Minister Kim Boo-kyum responded to writer Yoo Si-min, who criticized non-Lee Jae-myung faction figures including himself, by saying, "Thank you for the advice, Teacher Yoo Si-min." On the 6th, Kim made this statement in a Shorts video posted on his YouTube channel. In the Shorts, after watching a video on his smartphone where Yoo said the non-Lee faction was "going against the hopes of the public," Kim said, "Thank you for the advice. I will not make any assumptions about various situations and will refrain from doing so."

Kim then held up the book How Democracies Die by Harvard political science professors Steven Levitsky and Daniel Ziblatt, saying, "Taking the advice to read more books, I will properly read books like these." He added, "Thank you for all the advice, and I promise to live diligently."

Earlier, on the 5th, Yoo strongly criticized non-Lee faction candidates who oppose the Democratic Party’s Lee Jae-myung-centered system on the YouTube show 'Maebul Show,' saying they were "heading toward ruin." Yoo said, "In a situation where the game structure has become even more polarized than in the last general election, if you act like a moralizer saying, ‘Lee Jae-myung, you lost the presidential election because you were incompetent,’ or ‘Do you think you can do well on your own?’ you are heading toward ruin."

In the video, Yoo evaluated Kim Boo-kyum by saying, "Former Prime Minister Kim has already held a position beyond his capabilities." He advised, "He should be truly grateful that President Moon Jae-in recognized him and appointed him as prime minister, cherish the time he worked for the country during that period with joy, and now live with an attitude like Go player Lee Chang-ho 9-dan, who plays Go indifferently with young people, saying, ‘I learned a lot today.’ How wonderful would that be?" He also said, "Leave gathering the so-called third zone to others, read many books, watch a lot of YouTube, and live like that."

Meanwhile, on the 7th, former Prime Minister Kim visited the National May 18th Democratic Cemetery in Gwangju and said, "The traditional strength of the Democratic Party lies in diversity and inclusiveness." Kim stated, "When democracy is guaranteed, power and public trust are at their greatest," and added, "We must broaden the scope of our Democratic Party and combine the forces of various groups that supported the impeachment to create the next energy for the Republic of Korea." During a 3-day, 2-night visit to Gwangju and Jeonnam, Kim said, "I came to Gwangju with a heart seeking a path regarding the conflicts that arose after martial law, rebellion, and the presidential impeachment," and explained, "I intend to find a way for the spirit of May 18 to renew the Korean community today." Regarding evaluations that this visit was a move to consolidate public opinion ahead of an early presidential election, he said, "Many citizens are concerned whether the mechanisms against rebel forces are functioning properly," and added, "I am cautious about giving an answer until the public can be assured that things will be resolved according to the constitution."
