Jeonbuk Province Implements 10 AM Start for SMEs... Incentives Provided

Applications Accepted from the 10th
"Guaranteeing Childcare Time for Employees"

Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province will provide incentives to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that implement the "10 AM Start for Elementary School Parents" system (1-hour reduced work hours).

According to the province on the 7th, this initiative was established to guarantee childcare time for employees with elementary school-aged children.

Starting from the 10th, workplaces can apply to participate in the "10 AM Start for Elementary School Parents" system. Eligible applicants are manufacturing SMEs located in Jeonbuk with fewer than 50 regular employees and must be enrolled in employment insurance.

Workplaces receiving support from the government or local governments, such as public institutions, welfare organizations, or nonprofit corporations, are excluded from eligibility.

Employees are eligible regardless of employment type (fixed-term, substitute, probationary, etc.), provided their employment contract stipulates at least 8 hours of work per day. Employees not enrolled in employment insurance, those whose wages are subsidized by the government or local governments, or those using the Ministry of Employment and Labor's "Reduced Working Hours for Childcare" program are excluded from support.

Each workplace may apply for up to three employees, and employees can choose a usage period from one to three months. This year, up to 80 employees will be selected and supported until the budget is exhausted.

Selected workplaces must implement a 1-hour reduction in working hours (starting at 10 AM or leaving at 5 PM) for elementary school parent employees without wage reduction. Upon submission of supporting documents after implementation, incentives of 400,000 KRW for one month, 700,000 KRW for two months, and 1,100,000 KRW for three months will be provided.

Applications can be submitted through the Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province SME Comprehensive Support System starting from the 10th. For more details, refer to the announcement posted on the Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province Economic and Trade Promotion Agency website or contact the Corporate Growth Team.

Kim Intae, Director of Corporate Attraction Support, stated, "Through this project, we hope to establish a family-friendly corporate culture by creating an environment where employees can focus on childcare with peace of mind," and added, "We will continue to strive to discover various policies in which society shares the responsibility to ease the burden of raising children."
